The 26th annual McHappy Day® will be taking place on Wednesday, May 8th, 2019
On May 8th, visit any of the three locally owned and operated McDonald’s Restaurants and buy your favourites to help families and
#SupportTheCVCDA. For every Big Mac®, Happy Meal® or hot McCafé® beverage purchased, $1 will be donated. Choose one or all three to help support this amazing initiative contributing to charities right here in the Comox Valley.
Over the past 4 years, through the amazing commitment of crew, volunteers and you, the customers, McHappy Day has raised over $30,000 towards the construction of the CVCDA’s Autism Centre here at the Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA) in downtown Courtenay. The Autism Centre opened in December 2018 and is currently offering services to over 40 children and their families. This year, the McDonald’s Restaurants – Courtenay & Comox will once again generously contribute part of the event proceeds to the CVCDA with 50% of McHappy Day proceeds being allocated towards our outdoor playground. Funds will extend this outdoor space into a garden and courtyard area, providing all of the children at the Centre a chance to grow vegetables and flowers, prepare and have picnics and play in a natural setting.
In addition to supporting us here here at the CVCDA, the event will also be allocating 50% of the proceeds to Ronald McDonald House BC (RMHBC). Each year, families from Vancouver Island and across BC learn that their child needs critical care at BC Children’s Hospital. During these times, RMHBC, just 575 steps to BC Children’s Hospital, provides a caring home for families while allowing them to focus their energy on the treatment their child needs. 22% of the families who stay at RMHBC are from Vancouver Island.
It is a time-honoured McHappy Day® tradition for civic and community leaders to join in and celebrate this special day with many, many other special guests joining in to assist with the serving and preparation of your orders. You can participate at one of these three locally owned and operated Comox Valley locations:
