On behalf of the Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA), we would like to offer a BIG THANK YOU to all who participated and supported us at our 47th CVCDA Children’s Telethon. With your support, Comox Valley, we were able to raise a total of $127,580 by the end of our 2022 event held Sunday, November 6th from 12pm – 8pm and broadcast live from the Sid Williams Theatre.
FEBRUARY 2023 UPDATE
“We came into 2023 on the heels of a very successful Telethon closing 2022 with amazing support from Comox Valley community”, said CVCDA Board Chair, Diane Daigle. “However, we recently received yet another outstanding donation of $14,050 from the Mayor’s Golf Charity Classic”
“The charity golf tournament was held in Sept 2022”, said Executive Director, Cindy Xavier. “Based on this timeline we have decided to add the donation to our 47th CVCDA Children’s Telethon total bringing the amount to an incredible $141,680 – our highest total in the history of the CVCDA Annual Children’s Telethon!”
It was very exciting to have welcomed the public back to the theatre! After two years of being virtual during the pandemic, we once again hosted our 2022 CVCDA Children’s Telethon with open doors where our families and community could join us to celebrate our dedicated supporters.
The Telethon itself, is a FREE event where the whole family could come down and experience a live Shaw Spotlight TV broadcast, enjoy over 30 performances, raffles, special guests, kids activities and simply just be part of the wonderful fundraising spirit of the Comox Valley.
Families also had the opportunity to view from the comforts of their own home or where ever they were in real-time from their TVs or streaming devices.
This year, with your donations we will continue to build on our programs and meet local demands to improve upon the lives of the children, youth and adults with diverse abilities and their families, who utilize our services.
Additionally this year, we continued building on our fundraising goal to fund the initial planning stages of a new capital project. The Therapy Building, one of our oldest and most historic buildings, which is in great need of replacing or major upgardes in order to more easily meet the growing demand for our Early Intervention Therapy (EIT) services.
We are very happy to report we also had a very successful 2022 CVCDA Online Auction outcome raising just over $10,872. Our combined 50/50 and Prize Raffles additionally raised a total of $8,100 allowing one winner, Glen Christensen to take home the jackpot of $1,750. We also had two grand prize winners. Darci Kachenko who won a Westjet Gift of Flight Voucher and Kaiva CArten, a Tofino package including accommodation from Middle beach Lodge and a Whale or Bear Watching Tour from Jamie’s Whaling Station. All of these fundraisers were included in our telethon total.
We would also like to thank the countless 2022 CVCDA Telethon event supporters including our Co-Producer and Broadcast Partner, Shaw Spotlight, and the technical abilities and streaming services of Bob Wells and the entire team at the Sid Williams Theatre who worked closely with us to bring the Telethon to the viewers. We could not have done it with out all of the contributions of goods and service donations, coverage from our Media Partners, Comox Valley Record and 97.3 The Eagle and much, much more community support all around. Thank You!
The Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA) is a non-profit society that has served children and youth with diversabilities and their families since 1974.
