Sensory-Friendly Halloween Fun for All at the CVCDA

Oct 15, 2025 | Events, News

This free community event is designed to make Halloween enjoyable and accessible for children of all abilities.

The Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA) invites local families to join in for a Sensory-Friendly Halloween Trick or Treating event on Friday, October 31, from 3 to 4 p.m. at 237 Third Street, Courtenay (upstairs in the main building at the corner of Third and Cliffe).

This free community event is designed to make Halloween enjoyable and accessible for children of all abilities. Families can expect a welcoming environment with thoughtful touches that make the celebration fun, friendly, and inclusive. Children are encouraged to come in costume and take part in a relaxed afternoon of trick-or-treating and seasonal activities.

Traditional Halloween festivities can sometimes be overwhelming for children who experience sensory sensitivities. The CVCDA’s sensory-friendly approach includes features like softer lighting, reduced noise, and a calmer atmosphere—creating a positive space where every child can feel comfortable and included.

The event offers a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, celebrate the season, and experience the joy of Halloween in a supportive setting.
