Mayor Bob Wells has proclaimed November 2, 2025, as CVCDA Children’s Telethon Day, celebrating 50 years of community support for children and families in the Comox Valley.

In a heartwarming ceremony held today at Courtenay City Hall, Mayor Bob Wells officially proclaimed Sunday, November 2, 2025 as Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA) Children’s Telethon Day. The event marked the beginning of celebrations for the 50th Annual CVCDA Children’s Telethon, a milestone in the organization’s longstanding commitment to supporting children, youth, and families in the Comox Valley.

The proclamation was accompanied by a ceremonial flag raising, led by Amy Baudais, the 2025 CVCDA Telethon Ambassador. Amy, who began her journey with CVCDA in 1987 at just 18 months old, currently participates in the organization’s Project Inclusion Program. Her symbolic act of raising the first flag honored decades of community support and advocacy for children of all abilities.

Joining the celebration was CVCDA Ambassador and Telethon Chair Pam Crowe, board members, staff, and mascot BuddyExecutive Director Cindy Xavier, and Board President Diane Daigle, each shared remarks reflecting on the organization’s impact and the importance of continued community involvement.

Mayor Wells praised the CVCDA’s dedication, stating, “For over 50 years, the CVCDA has been a cornerstone of support for families in our region. Today’s proclamation and flag raising are a tribute to the incredible work they do and the lives they continue to touch.”

The community is invited to show their support by attending the live Telethon event on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Sid Williams Theater in Courtenay, or by tuning in via Live Stream on the CVCDA website.

Let’s come together to celebrate inclusion, growth, and the power of community.
