The Comox Valley Child Development Association is pleased to announce the 2026
Children's Telethon Ambassadors. Meet the beacons of hope, 5-month-old twins Forest and
River. We are continually inspired by the children and families in the Comox Valley that we
have the privilege to support.
Forest and River are 5 months old, and were born 4 weeks premature. They were referred to
the CVCDA (Comox Valley Child Development Association) for that reason so that they
could be monitored for their development as they grow. Parents, Carly and Quentin, moved
to the Comox Valley a few years ago from Williams Lake. Quentin's family lives in the valley
also so they are surrounded by support!
Currently Forest and River are involved with the IDP (Infant Development Program). They
have participated in an infant massage group with 4 other families on the IDP caseload
and received support through home visits. If the twins need extra supports with their
development as they grow, their Infant Development Consultant will refer them to services
in EIT (Early Intervention Therapies) within the CVCDA programs and services.
Pam Crowe, Children’s Telethon Committee Chair, noted that “we are excited to present our
2026 Ambassadors River and Forest. Thank you to Crystal Clear Photography for another
amazing Ambassador photo and to our amazing Ambassador family for sharing their
beautiful children with us. The Comox Valley Child Development Association Telethon is now
in its 51 year and will be taking place on November 1 2026 at the Sid Williams Theatre from
12pm- 8pm, be sure to mark your calendars!”
The Telethon is a FREE event where the whole family can come down and experience a live
Rogers TV broadcast, where they can enjoy live performances, raffles, special guests, kids'
activities and be part of the wonderful fundraising spirit of the Comox Valley. Families will
also have the opportunity to view from the comforts of their own home or wherever they are
in real-time from their TVs or streaming devices.
Last year’s Telethon raised $133,690 and all proceeds from the Telethon stayed right here in
the Comox Valley where the CVCDA supported over one thousand children last year
through our 17 different programs
