Children and families receive what they need to thrive.
Connect with Family Advocate
To get started with any of our CVCDA Services speak with April Statz.
Accessing Services
Services for families at the Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA) include access to our Family Advocate. They will usually be the first person you meet when you are referred to or enquire about receiving services at the CVCDA. Our Family Advocate provides an overview of the services and can answer your questions about all CVCDA programs. They also support families in linking to other community services they may need.
A few of our programs have varying referall processes. If you are unsure of your service needs, please connect first with our Family Advocate. Otherwise, please visit these program pages for more information on their particular referral or registration process:
Referrals
Referrals to our programs are accepted from families on behalf of your child and/or from a variety of other sources including family physicians, public health nurses, social workers and childcare providers. Families are also welcome to refer their own children.
Eligibility
To qualify for services through the CVCDA, the following criteria must be met.
- Live in the geographical area served by CVCDA; from Mud Bay (south) to the Oyster River (north), including Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland, Denman Island and Hornby Island,
- Children whose parents or legal guardians have given consent for them to receive services.
Fees and Funding
Services at the CVCDA are provided at no cost to families. Funding is provided through the province of B.C. and some community grants.
The Autism Program and JumpStart Preschool do have parent fees. However, we can assist families in accessing full funding through the B.C. Government.
Services Updates
Access improves for families connecting with child care services
Following a competitive procurement process, Child Care Resource and Referral Centres (CCRRs) throughout British Columbia are expanding to better serve local families and build child care connections in communities.
